Amtrak serves downtown Santa Cruz (station code SCZ) by bus connection from the nearest train station, San Jose Diridon (SJC). Amtrak routes that stop in San Jose include the Coast Starlight (serving Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles) and the Capitol Corridor (Oakland, Berkeley, and Sacramento). You can buy a ticket directly to Santa Cruz, and once you disembark from the train in San Jose, proceed to the 17 Express bus stop.
Regional trains stopping at San Jose Diridon include the Caltrain from San Francisco and the peninsula, and the Altamont Corridor Express from Dublin/Pleasanton and Stockton.

Santa Cruz Metro buses can get you into town from all over Santa Cruz county. Route 17 runs between San Jose Diridon and downtown Santa Cruz approximately once per hour, and requires exact change of $7 to board.
Greyhound buses also come to downtown Santa Cruz.

San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) International Airports are both a little more than an hour’s drive, and are near Caltrain and Amtrak Capitol Corridor stations, respectively.
